This is not a portrait of Tina Turner, the queen of rock ‘n’ roll but she is a young southern girl living in a similar circumstance and times as Tina was at that age. The opening of Bisa Butler’s solo show took place on Saturday May 6 at Jeffrey Deitch’s downtown Manhattan gallery and it was more reflective of a fashion week happening than a traditional art opening.
